You see a lot of posts on how to be a success in LinkedIn. But what is success anyway?
My view, one I have shared a lot, is that LinkedIn is not about B2C it is about B2B. So in that context, what would success be?
Here is one guy who is a success story. Mr Will Cotzier is a headhunter for miners based out of the UK. Will knows everyone in the mining industry. I know this because everyone I know, or want to know, is somehow connected to Will.
And he has great roles...always.
So recruiters can easily mark down their success rates through tracking LinkedIn versus other candidate initiatives. I see a lot of them on here nowadays, and they generally have large and targeted networks.
Conference producers seem to be another area where they are able to exploit the B2B characteristics of the medium.
I'm not too sure if its a good avenue for things like books and mass readership elements. Maybe..
For me success n LinkedIn is when you can use it effectively to supplement your usual networking and communications channels. And by effectively I mean that you can see the dollar trail.
