It is very easy to look at young Mark Zuckerberg or the Google founders and think "Wow, I really missed the train".
Even closer to home there are always people within our range of contacts who seem to be doing so much better than us. Maybe they started their own business and made it, or they have achieved extra-ordinary success in their careers, or maybe they just appear to have a very happy life.
And here I sit at 40, moving country/job/business again, with little invested cash and... wait!
There is always another train. You just need to wait for it and be prepared when it comes down the line.
I missed the 18yr old train that would have taken me to college, but another came along.
I missed the 20's to 30's train that could have seen me as one of the "30 under 30" entrepreneurs, but in exchange my career has flourished.
I missed the "great promotions at a young age" train and instead I find myself very focused on creating my own good fortune rather than waiting for someone else to promote me.
You may have missed that train, but there is always another train. Their is never a best opportunity, greatest investment, best career choice, or wisest consulting project... never. There is always another opportunity, some better some worse, but there is always another train.
