That is a fantastic strap line isn't it? Want to be the best, then do what they do - buy our product! I love it and wish I had thought of it.

If you have traveled through just about any international airport these are some of the banners that you would have seen. But surely we all know that display ads are not the best way to get the phone to ring right? So why do they do this?

Does anybody actually think that a corporate executive is going to see a banner ad and then make a phone call for $50 million worth of software? Really?

Because not all marketing is about getting the phone to ring. That's a myth that has driven a lot of very annoying short term tactics in marketing. Some marketing is actually about brand recognition.

But they are very good banners. Great visuals, normally of recognized brand leaders, motion and success also play key roles. And the promise of something great. In fact, beyond great. The best in the world...("If you partner with us")

Display ads need to be a core element of any marketing plan aiming at improving your brands recognition. reinforcing your ability to add value, drawing on those who trust you, and placing your brand at the top of their minds when they think of products / services in your area.

But it won't make the phone ring... and thats okay.
